Our first Creative Retreat of 2022 is here!
It’s in glorious Cape Town, South Africa.
This time, I’m co-hosting with my great friend, Felix Kunze!
Felix is not only someone who I work with, but he’s an amazing human being and so much fun to be around! He exemplifies everything I love about the community and doing a retreat with him in South Africa made perfect sense. Felix often frequents Cape Town and being able to see the beautiful city with him at the helm is a perfect backdrop to this event. This is our second time in Cape Town together doing a retreat and we are so excited to spend it with you!

As a lovely surprise, my wife Bella Kotak will also be there with us through this trip! She is one of the world’s best fantasy photographers and all around amazing human. Best wife in the world, too, might I add!

What is a Creative Retreat?

This video shows what a previous retreat looked like. Even though that was a Retouching specific retreat, you get a general idea.
Imagine a beautiful place somewhere around the world for a hand-picked group of like minded creatives to share a space for four days and five nights! A place to get away, and spend time together as creatives! We'll unwind and have fun together, explore, and inspire each other. We usually end up bonding so closely as lifelong friends over a course of the week, and each experience is unforgettable. We all bring something unique to the table, so this is not just a getaway, but an opportunity to advance ourselves as creatives as well.
With this retreat, we have a beautiful itinerary planned full of fun, sun and food. Lots of adventures and spending time together on vacation as creatives. Feel free to bring your laptops, cameras and questions. Although there won’t be any workshops, we’re happy to answer anything on your mind beyond just techniques.
That is what creative retreats are. Being able to vacation and explore with friends is a dream.

What To Expect
Just like the description above mentioned, this is an open ended event where our main focus is exploring together as creatives. You may defininitely bring your laptop and cameras to capture the memories. The space is catered to be a perfect place to unwind yet still foster creativity and productivity during the evenings. Each day is full of adventure with an abundance of beauty Cape Town! The balance of working and exploring is completely up to each person, you may use the space and time for whatever calls to you. If on any day you prefer to stay back and enjoy our beautiful space, or join us in the events, you are completely free to have that flexibility. We definitely encourage staying a few extra days to explore and shoot as well!
This retreat is what you make of it and it will serve whatever purpose you wish to be there for. We just can’t wait to spend time with you! The space we foster is one of absolute revitalization and joy!
Below are some of Felix's favorite locations that we hope to explore. The schedule for each day is also very flexible and will be discussed when we all get together on the first night.
You can expect a lot of world class food shared among epic sites, a healthy consumption of wine, and beautiful journeys and tons of laughter.
Locations
If you’re curious about some of the locations we have on deck to potentially check out, here are a few reasons why Cape Town is our destination of choice. We haven’t even begun to mention the culinary options and variety of food and drink available!
The Roundhouse, Boulders beach (penguins!), Cape point vineyard, Kirstenbosch, Clifton beach, Sunset on the Rocks, West coast Nationalpark, Langebaan Beach, Fransshoek wine country, La petite ferme, Kloofneck hike, Table mountain hike , Signal hill Sunset, and photoshoots on the beach (seals!)
Cost
We have 6 spots available for this retreat.
The cost includes stay for the full length of the trip, but does not include food or transportation to and from the airport or the cost of your flight.
The cost of transportation for spots 5 and 6 to and from our home at the retreat will also not be covered.
Ubers are very affordable in Cape Town and we will ensure a safe journey.
Spots 1 and 2 - This one bedroom has two separate single beds and a private bathroom. You’ll be rooming with a fellow colleague with these spots, but will be introduced to each other prior to to ensure you know your roomate.
Cost - $1,200 each
* Breaks down to $240 per night
Spots 3 - This is the main suite of the house. It has a terrace view, a king bed and a stunning private bathroom. The ultimate way to escape with an uncompromising experience.
Cost - $2,400
* Breaks down to $480 per night
Spot 4 - A beautiful room fitted with a queen bed, en-suite bathroom, and open terrace views. Wake up to stunning views from your bed in this stunning space.
Cost - $1,850
* Breaks down to $370
Spots 5 and 6 - Off Site or Couch - As our house is limited in number of rooms, we provide an option to take part in all the fun during the day and night.
You may stay off-site at an accommodation of your choice (There are lots of AirBnB places around). The cost of your AirBnB will not be covered by us and is additional.
This provides a lower priced option for people who want to join in on the fun, or for people who already live in CapeTown!

Covid and Visa Requirements

Being fully vaccinated is required to be present on this trip to ensure a smooth retreat.

If you cannot attend the trip due to any unforeseen complications with Covid, including and not limited to testing positive on arrival and requiring quarantine, not being able to board your flight, getting sick on your travels, and other related reasons, we cannot grant a refund of the cost of your spot or trip in any way. You will be responsible for the cost of that.
