Itinerary

Each day will bring a world of surprises as we traverse stunning vistas and landscapes, exploring world-famous destinations. Because of our in-depth knowledge and planning, we’ll usually have many of the locations completely to ourselves. It’s incredible.

We’ll curate photoshoots in breathtaking locations, stay in beautiful accommodations, and spend time getting to know each other during the journey.

For the sake of wonder and inspiration, we prefer to keep the itinerary as a surprise, allowing each day’s activities to unfold as the previous one ends.

We are happy to share itineraries for anyone that prefers this.

However, embracing the surprises ahead is highly encouraged for a truly magical experience!

Internet / Wifi

Namibia is the 2nd most sparsely populated country on earth, and we’ll be going far from any cities or towns. Cellular reception is spotty and now all locations have good WiFi. Please keep this in mind to help set expectations for family and friends. Usually you’ll have cellular or WiFi at least once during each 36 hour period.

Not all carriers support international roaming in Namibia. To counteract this, we will have a local cellular hotspot to use when we are within cell coverage.

Snacks / Water

There will be some stops for snacks and drinks. You will not need to load up for the entire trip ahead of time. The same goes for water, we will carry enough for everyone as it’s important to stay hydrated during travel.

Laundry Services

On Day 5, there will be laundry services so you won’t have to worry about re-packing dirty.

Here are some suggestions on what you should pack and how much to pack.

Pack Light
Due to us driving in four cars, we highly encourage you to pack one main suitcase and one roller bag or camera bag. It will allow us to load and unload faster and provide ample space for everyone. If for any reason you have multiple suitcases, we can check them at the hotel in Windhoek for easy pickup when we return at the end of the trip.

Styling Contributions (Optional)
We have styling options ready for our models. However, you may bring dresses or clothing for the models if you have anything suitable. We will keep that in consideration for times that may allow for it or are better suited for particular locations. No pressure!

Bug spray
It’s a dry country, so there won’t be too many insects. There may be some instances where mosquitos are present. As we will not be in a malaria zone, this is not a concern.

Sun protection (hats/sunscreen) and Cool evenings
The sun can be deceptive, especially if you’re not used to long sun exposure or locations with intense sun. We’ll encourage sunscreen and repetitive application. Please also consider a hat and glasses, as well as long sleeve, loose clothing if you are prone to sunburn. If you bring a loose hat, one with a chin strap during any windy moments may be helpful.

Scarfs are also a great garment to have for sun protection!

In the evenings, the temperatures may be slightly cooler so a light jacket will suffice. Please check the forecast closer to the date and adjust based on your personal tolerance.

Handheld Fan
As an optional item for those who struggle with heat, a fan is always a great option.

Comfortable shoes
One of our locations requires a 1 km walk. Please wear adequate footwear. Comfortable shoes meant for walking would be encouraged at minimum. Your hosts will be wearing sneakers and hiking boots.

Flip flops will also be great, especially for trips to the pool.

Swimwear
There are pools across many of places we’ll be staying in that you will be sad to miss, bring something to swim in, as well as adequate hats for sun protection. And if you don’t feel like swimming or wearing one, you can at least lounge poolside with us even in your resort wear! Bring cover-ups along for added sun protection.

Makeup Tip
For those who wear makeup, be sure to avoid retinol products due to the sensitivity and risk for pigmentation from the sun.

Gear
Due to range of scenarios, a zoom lens at minimum would be recommended, or a couple of primes. If you’re a landscape person, you may benefit from using a 100mm+ lens to get distant animals as we’re driving across expansive vistas. And for those portraits and fashion shots, you can use the wider lenses. No matter what, it will be a pleasant challenge trying to capture it all!

You’ll also want to bring ample memory cards, just in case you may not have the energy or time to backup on some evenings.

With backing up, we highly encourage a form of redundancy. Ensure files are in two locations so in case one gets lost or damaged (accidents happen), you won’t lose your files.

If you’re looking to take self-portraits or any timelapse photos, a tripod is always handy.

Refillable water bottle
We’ll be carrying big gallon bottles of water around, it would benefit each person to have a refillable water bottle as an option. There are also single-use water bottles available, however they tend to easily get misplaced or left behind in cars or rooms. We’d like to reduce single use plastics.

Electrolytes
We will have plenty of water with us, but having elecryolyte packs through the trip can be handy to stay hydrated beyond water. Brands like LMNT and Re-Lyte make single serving packs that are easy to pack!

Adapters
You will want to bring a Namibian adapter. It is the Type M plug and something like this will help charge multiple devices using one outlet. Often, there might not be a lot of outlets so a multi-adapter like this is helpful. Here are some options to consider for various outlet options and price points

Health Precautions
If you have any particular medication that needs to be refilled or allergies, please do remember to do that. This includes a first aid kit like bandages, neosporin, etc. We will carry a basic first aid kit.

Cash
Cards will work in most places in Namibia, as a backup please carry some cash with you. AMEX isn’t broadly accepted in Namibia or South Africa, so please bring options. If you are traveling through South Africa, you can take out South African Rand at an ATM - this is accepted in Namibia on a 1 to 1 conversion. Namibian Dollars are NOT accepted in South Africa. There are also ATMs in Windhoek airport. US Dollars are not accepted as currency in Namibia.
